Beat Feuz played golf for a good cause on Friday. On Saturday he will play a tennis duel against another Olympic champion.
The Swiss-Ski Golf Trophy took place on Friday for the 16th time. Numerous former and active stars of the scene came together at the Lenzerheide Golf Club. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Marco Odermatt, Beat Feuz, Loïc Meillard, Bruno Kernen or Didier Cuche. Together with sponsors and patrons, the aim was to unpack the golf skills for a good cause. This was successful – more than 100,000 francs were won.
Beat Feuz traveled directly from Austria for the event. As he says in an interview with 20 Minuten, he spends time with his family in the summer. “Everyone is fit and healthy. We were also out and about in the Emmenthal in the summer and enjoyed the time.» In the past, Feuz was often used with the golf clubs. But he has now reversed this. “I had years when I played a lot. I don’t get to do that anymore, also because of the family I don’t want to spend the time on it anymore. Golf is a good balance, but only a rare one,” says the downhill Olympic champion.
Duel on the tennis court
Instead of being on the golf course, Feuz prefers to be on the tennis court. He also plays league matches at his Austrian club. “It’s like Interclub in Switzerland.” The 35-year-old has won both of his two individual events this year. In doubles, his record is balanced. According to the Austrian Tennis Association, Feuz has a positive record of 21 to 14 wins. After the games it can happen that Feuz has to give signatures. Feuz with a smile: “But many teams already know me from last year.” In addition, other teams also have celebrities in action.
Such a duel occurs directly on Saturday: “Andreas Widholzl plays in the opposing team. He won a lot in ski jumping,” explains the Swiss. In fact: At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Widholzl won the gold medal with the team. There is also a bronze, also in the team, in 1998 in Nagano, as well as the bronze in the individual in the same year. But that was not it. In the 1999/2000 season, Widholzl won the Four Hills Tournament. By the way: Like Feuz, Widholzl is still undefeated in tennis this season. Of course, the question arises: Which series will break?
