Four Zamorans managed to get on the podium on the first day of the Master Trophy (N6) Under 13 and Under 17 that began yesterday at the Angel Nieto Pavilion in Zamora with the participation of nearly a hundred players. Erik Casas, teaming up with Gonzalo García from Valladolid, caressed victory in the Under 17 couples final, falling 21-18 in the third set after coming close to 18-16 against Pablo Martín (Medina del Campo) and Andrés Pérez (Lion).

Also very outstanding was the performance of the under 17 girls from the Badminton Zamora club, Natalia Colino and Elena Turiel, who finished in third individual position, each one on one side of the elimination table. Finally, in Sub 13, Demetrio Pinto, also a student of Aitor Llandres, won the bronze medal despite the fact that he is still of Sub 11 age.
The tournament had a good competitive level, highlighting, for example, in the Under 17 category the final in which two players who are in the national elite and who already compete in international events, such as the Asturian Adolfo López and Alejandro Lopez. The women’s final also registered a high level with Mariela Vázquez from Extremadura and Elena Dueñas from Burgos.
This morning, the Top TTR Tournament (N7) will also be held in the Angel Nieto Pavilion in the Absolute and Senior categories, in which the coach of the Zamorano club will compete.
Yesterday’s day developed with a very good atmosphere in the stands despite the heat. The organization distributed gifts among the participants donated by the City Council, Bodegas Ramón Ramos, Quesos Laurus and Bar QTR.
