Jacques Leturnier (veteran) and Malo Huet (senior) were in the spotlight this Friday at the Ploërmel dojo. Indeed, they both shone at the last French adapted sport championships which took place in Mèze, near Montpellier. Jacques, an ultra favorite in competitions for nearly 20 years, confirmed the trends by winning his two fights in the 81kg category and thus won his fourth career French championship title. It’s his 14th podium in 20 participations… a dazzling domination! At the age of 25, the young hopeful of the Ploërmel Malo Huet club won a superb 3rd place at these same championships in the 73 kg category.

As surprising as it may seem, Jacques began his sports career with football. He started judo at the age of 16. “It was a friend who introduced me to this sport. I started late but I was very well supervised by Jean and Denis. I saw that I could do great things”. As for Malo, he discovered the martial art at 12 and progressed very quickly. Both athletes will have a few weeks off before resuming training to prepare for next season. Jacques wants to repeat his performance and pocket other gold medals. The objective for Malo is to obtain his black belt and to progress in his kata. Our two champions therefore seem to have good years ahead of them to continue to shine under the colors of Ploërmel.

Good to know:

Today and for many years, the French Federation of Adapted Sport (FFSA) aims to organize, develop, coordinate and control the practice of physical and sporting activities of people with mental or psychological disabilities.

These are people (children, adolescents, adults, the elderly) with:

  • either a slight, moderate or profound intellectual disability to which physical or sensory disabilities may be associated (people with multiple disabilities)
  • either mental disorders
