With a resounding success in attendance and participation -over 220 athletes- the most outstanding sporting event of the year was held in the charming town of El Bosque: the Judokita, which brings together almost 300 people in the small forest pavilion in a venue that is has shown to be absolutely insufficient to accommodate the large public and to be able to carry out the organization of events of this magnitude, as the organizers of the sporting coexistence continue to mention every time they are asked about this issue.
The day was accompanied by weather conditions as it was not very hot and part of the track was set up to accommodate the relatives of the judokas. The competition was very fluid and lasted two and a half hours without any major injury incidents. The participating children, regardless of their position achieved, were given their corresponding medal and a commemorative t-shirt. The categories were from four to 14 years old and all the participants did a minimum of three fights in a very familiar and close environment.
Very remarkable was the abundant intervention of the judokas of the Judo Club Arcos (about twenty) of Miguel Padial, of the Club Ciudad del Lago de Bornos (about 30), of Manuel Jesús Ruiz and, of course, of the hosts of the Judo Club El Bosque, trained by Manuel Padilla, in a pavilion that was very small due to the massive attendance of the public and that was packed even with people outside. Groups of four competitors of equal weights and by age were formed, fighting all against all so that the children could compete, achieve their medals and that they could fight in three combats, with all of them classified, both the youngest and the oldest, the children. All the referees were collegiate and federated, one more detail of the good organization of the event, which had five tatamis so that the development of the meeting was as fluid as possible. Each club was also presented with a trophy and a gift. In all the participating clubs there were a minimum of four or five fighters who finished at the top of the podium in a very balanced competition, in which there was no special relevance nor did any club stand out above the rest, everything going perfectly. The club that contributed the most judokas was the Club Deportivo Shogun de Cádiz, followed by Ciudad del Lago bornicho, without the greatest presence of judocas from Bosque as hosts.
Another full house is expected for this weekend at the El Bosque pavilion as the annual black belt exams are held from first to fifth dan in judo and from first to fourth dan in aikido. On Saturday morning there will be a preparatory course and throughout the day exams will be held for the applicants, who come from all over Andalusia, most of whom will spend the night in hotels and rural houses in the beautiful mountain town. At the moment, there are 38 registered for the judo exams and 11 for the aikido exams, one more achievement of the sport of forest judo, which will revitalize the economic fabric of the population for two consecutive weekends, despite the continued closure of the public hostel and the insufficient capacity to welcome athletes and the entrance of spectators in the tiny sports area of the pavilion, which requires urgent intervention to increase its capacity since there is a danger of not being able to host this type of massive gatherings. “For next year we are considering limiting the number of participants so as not to bring so many people,” warns Manuel Padilla, the main organizer of the meeting, who is in favor of installing more seats for spectators, “not because of the athletes, who They fit without problems, but because their parents, grandparents and siblings need a comfortable and decent location to accompany the judokas and not have to stand during the competition”.
