Xander Schauffele on his way, Matthieu Pavon retreats

Author of the best performance the day before to revive (65), the American Xander Schauffele (-7) took the lead in the Genesis Scottish Open before the last lap, thanks to a new demonstration (66). The only Frenchman this weekend, Matthieu Pavon fell to 61st place (+5).

With six clear birdies at the start of hole number 17, Xander Schauffele was on track to do even better than his show of force the day before (65), which had allowed him to get back into the race for the Genesis Scottish Open title. The 28-year-old American unfortunately ended his third round with two bogeys for a card of 66, the best of the day for the second time in a row all the same!

Cabrera-Bello and Spieth replace each other

With a score of -7, the Californian is two lengths ahead of the Spaniard Rafa Cabrera-Bello, winner in 2017, who suddenly caught fire from 10 to 13 with an eagle followed by three bidies! He also author of a card of 66 like Schauffele, Jordan Spieth climbs on the podium and will start just before the two men of the last part. A hell of a day for the man with three major titles who investigated two eagles on his return trip!

Only man with Cabrera-Bello to boast a third card in a row under 70, the Englishman Jordan Smith, who almost made a hole in one on the same hole where he won two cars yesterdaycompletes the podium with Ryan Palmer.

Matthieu Pavon steps back

Recent winner of the US Open, Matthew Fitzpartick is sixth at four lengths, alongside Cameron Tringale who has been losing ground little by little since his 61 first-round record. Matthew Pavon is out of the game to snatch a ticket to The Open, promised to the first three members of the top 10 who have not already qualified, after his difficult 73 which pushes him beyond the top 60 (+5).
