The canoeist David Fernández (Los Gorilas) and the kayaker Alberto Llera Serrano (El Sella), five-time champions of Asturias, with five gold medals each, and Celia Remis (Grupo Covadonga), three golds in senior women K-1

The pixueto canoeist David Fernández Marqués (Los Gorilas de Candás), the Riosellan kayaker Alberto Llera Serrano (El Sella) and the Parraguese kayaker Celia Remis Cueva (Royal Covadonga Culture Group) were the undisputed protagonists of the Asturias Sprint Championship for the senior categories and juveniles, played on Saturday, in the waters of the Santa Cruz de Trasona reservoir (Corvera), with some 350 paddlers in the running.

The Riosellano international Alberto Llera Serrano (Club Canoeing El Sella) won five gold medals in that Regional in calm waters, in the senior category: in K-1, K-2 (with Nelson Roberto Geringer Sallate) and in K-4 (together with Geringer, Hugo Cueto and Ernesto Goribar Echevarría), over the distance of 1,000 meters; in K-2 500 (with Goribar) and also in K-2 200 meters (with Ernesto Goribar).

For his part, the canoeist David Fernández (Los Gorilas) climbed, in the same way, up to five times to the top of the corverano podium, thanks to his five gold medals, all in the senior category: C-1 1,000 meters, C-1,500 meters and C-1,200 meters; C-2 500 meters, with Tahiché Villalva García; and C-2 200 meters, also with Tahiché Villalva García. Full, five out of five, five-time champion of Asturias.

The Riosellano and international Richard García Fernández (Oviedo Kayak-La Ribera) was gold in K-1 500 meters and in K-4 500 meters (along with Pelayo Palicio, Jairo Bango and Manuel del Río), as well as a silver medal in K -4 200 meters (with Roberto González Muñiz, Raúl Delgado García and Manuel del Río López), a distance in which those from Club El Sella de Ribadesella (Pedro Gutiérrez, Juan Rosete, Raúl Marian Vacareanu and Asley Rodríguez Naredo) triumphed.

In kayak women, Celia Remis Cueva (Grupo Covadonga) managed to score gold medals in K-1 and in the distances of 1,000, 500 and 200 meters. In juveniles, highlight the triplet of the K-4 girls from Club Piraguas Villaviciosa-El Gaitero, dominated in the three distances of the regional sprint; meanwhile, Lucía Val Cerdeira (Los Albiones de Navia) won the gold metal in K-1 500 and 200 meters.

That yes, separate mention deserves Daniel Estébanez Santiago (Grupo Covadonga), who will go to the European marathon later this month with the Spanish national team, with half a dozen gold medals in youth category: K-1 1,000 meters; K-1 500 and K-1 200 meters; K-2 1,000 meters, with Bruno Valderrey Alonso; K-2 200, with Paul Canteli of the Fountain; and K-2 mixed 200 meters, with Maria Paraja Fernandez.

The classification by clubs of the Regional sprint-2022 was led by Los Gorilas de Candás, ahead of Grupo Cultura Covadonga from Gijón and Fertiberia-Atlética Avilesina. Meanwhile, in the Asturian Young Promises Championship (cadet and children), elucidated this Sunday, July 10, in Corvera, the Covadonga Culture Group was champion by squads; The Gorillas de Candás and Náutico Ensidesa were second and third, respectively.
