Susana Monje, Barça’s treasurer, claims she was the victim of Villarejo’s “blackmail”

BarcelonaSusana Monje, Barça’s ex-treasurer at the time of Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, has reported that the Spanish police “blackmailed” her into providing information related to the Pujol family. Some facts that have become known from new recordings of the ex-commissioner José Manuel Villarejo that has come to light Elmon.cat.

According to these audios, Villarejo suspected that Monje had first-hand information about former President Jordi Pujol, and in particular about “two zulos where 50 million would have been hidden. “For this reason, the former commissioner wanted to put pressure on the then Barça treasurer to find out more details.

“Know that I have never met any of the Pujols or given in to the blackmail they intended to inflict on me, despite the consequences I have suffered and continue to suffer,” Monje told ARA. The businesswoman, who was also interviewed on RAC1, gave her version of events. He explains that he met in a hotel in Madrid with a member of the police “who presented himself as a commissioner.” It was not, however, Villarejo, as Monje assures that he never spoke there. At that meeting, police intended to “corroborate information they were finding.”

Monk, however, told the meeting that he had no knowledge of the facts. According to his version, the Barça ex-treasurer was also told that if he collaborated, the “false news” that was appearing against his company would end. But that, in the face of the refusal to explain anything – he maintains that he knew nothing – this information followed. “As a result of this systematic reputational attack, the company [Grupo Essentium] ended up in bankruptcy, and it’s a terrible process. Also at that time they started files in the Treasury with incomprehensible criteria, “Susana Monje tells ARA.

In fact, the businesswoman says that if she resigned from Barça in November 2016, it was precisely for this reason. “They identified people we were on the board as people who could put pressure. I thought that affected the club and I decided to resign.” On the other hand, she also explains that she had to hire private security for her and her family. “I paid a terrible toll.”
