The group of Venezuela for the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC) to be held in March 2023 in the city of Miami has already been defined and with it, rumors began to spread about who will be the manager of the Creole team.
In 2017, Omar Vizquel was in charge of guiding the tricolor team; however, Venezuela’s performance was not the most ideal, so now a new name will emerge to guide this talented group of players.
Aracelis León, president of the Venezuelan Baseball Federation, has been emphatic that they are waiting for the green light from Major League Baseball to make the big announcement. However, she stressed by telephone that this week the directors will meet to define those points around the next tournament of nations.
“This week we will meet to discuss all these issues,” León said by telephone.
Since 2020, several names have sounded to take the reins of the tricolor team. Omar López, Carlos Mendoza, Henry Blanco, among others.

Recently a source linked to the federation confirmed that the balance could tip for Mendoza, who serves as bench coach for the New York Yankees this season.
As in all the WBC since 2006, Venezuela has had a great team of players and for the 2023 edition it will not be the exception.
Figures such as Ronald Acuña Jr., José Altuve, and even Miguel Cabrera himself, at 39 years of age, confirmed their intention to participate in the great event and thus wear the national team jersey.
