Spain qualifies for the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

MADRID, July 16 (European Press) –

The Spanish U-17 women’s team agreed to the World Cup final in Hungary on Saturday by defeating France in the semifinals (66-59), to play on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. for the gold medal against the United States or Canada.

With a very complicated entrance of France to the field, Spain conceded 0-9, which forced them to go against the current from the beginning of the game. It was difficult for him to enter the first basket, but Judit Valero’s outside shot ended with a run and hung (8-13).

The French reasserted their initial control and put the ground in the middle with seven points in a row. But a triple by Carla Vegas reduced the difference to end the first half 11-20.

France remained intractable, but Blau Tour and Ayana woke up the Spanish team with three goals. Thus, the hoop with a vertical face kept options after the first part (26-33).

Spain kept their winning genes in the third quarter to start the comeback. The points from Vegas and Awa Pham cleared the way (33-43) and between Iana, Blau Tour and Calvo, the team managed to close the third round 43-48.

In the 36th minute of the match and thanks to two free throws by Ayana, the team advanced for the first time in the entire match. Pham and Valero accompanied him from the ocean and despite the fact that the challenger would try again (58-56), they did not give up.

A Las Vegas hat-trick ended up breaking the balance in favor (61-59) and Spain completed a brilliant and controversial comeback in the World Cup final in Hungary.
