Viterbo – Umberto Fanciullo will again lead the first team of the Blue Star Viterbo in the next C gold championship. In his 11th year on the white-studded bench, the coach is now an irreplaceable part of the Viterbo technical structure and this year he will play the role of head of the entire youth sector.
Obviously the reconfirmation by the Viterbo company in consideration of the excellent results always obtained by the coach both with the first team and with the youth sector of which he is responsible since 2018 and which, together with Maria Chiara Scaramuccia, has led to a remarkable qualitative development. Player since 1983 and always in the role of playmaker, he started from Guidonia, which he drove since 1996 and then arrived in Viterbo in the 2012/2013 season as assistant to Pierpaolo Pasqualini. 25 years of coaching card, first in minibasketball and in the youth sectors, then in D, C, with three seasons in B at the helm of the biancostellati. In her professional background there is also an annual experience as a female assistant in B.
One of the most popular coaches, Fanciullo is a constantly updated professional. For years he has been flying to Spain to participate in the clinics directed by Sergio Scariolo and Pablo Laso and follow the training, techniques and methodologies of both the Iberian national team and Real Madrid on the pitch. Since last season he has been appointed by the FIP as head of the “Regional Technical Centers”, aimed at the growth of young basketball talents, to monitor and select the best young prospects.
Fanciullo is also active in the production of technical volumes on basketball, including “The program San Antonio Spurs”, a book on the philosophies of the game of one of the greatest teams in the NBA.
But the management of the Blue Star has also reconfirmed in its technical staff, as the first assistant of the C gold, Jacopo Vitali who has played an important role in the last exciting season of the biancoblu.
