Daniel Lacasse and Charles-Xavier Boislard, two of three Saint-Laurent high school basketball coaches who have been charged with various sex crimes, will stand trial in the fall of 2023.
The two men were arrested with one of their colleagues from this Montreal school, Robert Luu, last February.
Daniel Lacasse’s trial will take place from September 12 to 15, 2023; that of Charles-Xavier Boislard, from October 3 to 6 of the same year. They are free pending the procedures, but must respect numerous conditions.
The acts of which they are accused were committed between 2008 and 2017. The identity of the complainants will obviously remain confidential throughout the criminal proceedings. A total of eight counts were brought against them.
Daniel Lacasse, 43, head of the school’s basketball program, faces a charge of sexual exploitation. He is accused of having “touched a part of the body” of a teenager in relation to whom he was in a position of authority or trust “for sexual purposes”, can we read in the indictment. On the school’s website, the man is described as an “administrative manager” who is part of the management team.
As for Robert Luu, 32, he faces three counts: sexual assault, sexual interference with a minor, and having incited a teenager under the age of 16 to perform sexual acts.
The same counts are charged against Charles-Xavier Boislard, 43, who was also charged with sexual exploitation of a minor with whom he was in a position of authority or trust.
