The fourth stage of the Latvian beach volleyball championship will take place from Friday to Sunday on Liepāja beach. While some of Latvia’s strongest men’s and women’s duos will prefer the “Beach Pro Tour” tournaments, the rest of the pairs will have more opportunities to climb the podium, reports the Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF).

In the men’s competition, 31 duets have entered, and 20 pairs in the women’s competition. For men, Artūrs Rinkevičs will play with Aivars Svikli, Mihails Samoilovs – with Ernests Puškundzis, but Sandris Andrejevs and Toms Benjavs, who climbed the podium for the first time in the season in Cēsis, and the duo Matīss Gabdullins/Mārcis Jurgensons will fight for the prized places.
For women’s duets, without the participation of the finalists of the Cēsi stage, the bronze medalists Kristīne Briede and Kitija Martini Ādamsone, as well as Beāte Liepājniece and Anija Ozoliņa will be in the line-up, but the duo Marta Ozoliņa/Luize Anna Skrastiņa has also entered the competition after missing some stages.
One Estonian male duet will also be represented.
Competition on Friday at 17.00, will start with the qualification tournament. Saturday, at 9.00, group games for men and women’s duets will start, but at 17.00 – first round of playoffs. On Sunday, the day in Liepāja will begin with the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and battles for first and third place.
The “DEPO Open 2022” season is a three-month long beach volleyball festival with the participation of the best Latvian athletes. This season, in the Latvian championship, beach volleyball players compete in five stages and the final. All stages are held outside Riga, continuing to cover the regions of Latvia, and both men and women participate in all stages. As in previous seasons, players from other countries are also invited to participate as guests in all stages, except for the final.
Admission to all games will be free. Sunday’s games will also be broadcast on TV channels “Best4Sport” and LTV7.
