Karel Geraerts repeated it again last week: the Union transfer window was not over. If the club still absolutely has to transfer a defensive midfielder, a center-forward was also wanted. And the Union have found their man in the person of Gustaf Nilsson who has signed a contract for two seasons plus one as an option.
This tall 25-year-old center-forward (1m96) was playing at the start of the season with the German club Wehen Wiesbaden (German D3) with which he scored on the first day of the championship against Dormtund II (1-1). The Swedish international twice in 2018 scored 14 goals and made 5 assists in 30 games last season.
Trained in Sweden, Nilsson then joined Denmark before returning to the country and then heading to Germany during the winter of 2021.
Gustaf Nilsson, who was under contract until June 2023 at Wehen Wiesbaden, will compete with Vanzeir and Eckert in the coming weeks.
