NBA hires Media Distribution Management – ​​BAL

This multi-faceted role will report directly to BAL’s Head of Business Development and Partnerships and will be a key contributor to maximizing media rights revenue and distribution opportunities for BAL. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in supporting the sale or acquisition of broadcast media rights, broadcast marketing, facilitating b2b accounts and projects and will be a digital native.

Main responsibility:

Business development

  • Responsible for generating leads and achieving sales targets
  • Support by collecting commercial information and carrying out analyzes of the media rights market
  • Manage internal management reports on the regional media rights sales pipeline
  • Manage and support contracting and onboarding processes for new partnerships, renewals and upsells
  • Create and deliver consultative sales presentations using industry knowledge, market trends and BAL marketing solutions

Partner management and business operations support

  • Facilitation of partner content and programming
  • Management of partner marketing and promotions
  • Follow-up and facilitation of partner invoicing
  • Innovate and enhance the development of media rights partnership value around key BAL tent initiatives (e.g. BAL Saturdays and BAL Sundays)

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Strong relationships in the broadcast media and telecommunications landscape (pay TV, FTA and streaming services)
  • Experience in negotiating media distribution agreements on the African continent
  • Strong consultative analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of the broader broadcast rights and digital media rights landscape
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is a preference
  • Creative ideation and problem solving skills
  • Must be thorough and organized
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills used to liaise cross-functionally and build relationships
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Experience required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in audiovisual media sales and marketing
  • Experience in digital and traditional broadcasting rights, highly appreciated
  • A history of managing accounts and selling broadcast rights
  • A successful track record in developing, improving and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external clients
