Wout van Aert’s striking training socks: “Half man, half moped”

Wout van Aert did not take much rest or vacation after the Tour de France. After the three Natour criteriums, our compatriot has already completed four training sessions. Last weekend, Van Aert trained with Tiesj Benoot, among others, who showed his teammate’s special socks on social media. “Half man, half moped”, it reads on the back.

Rest for Wout van Aert after the Tour? barely. The first week there were the criteriums in Roeselare, Herentals and Roosendaal, the second week Van Aert started training again. Last weekend he drove from Herentals to Nijmegen, the Netherlands, together with Tiesj Benoot, among others. A trip of 135 kilometers. “Half man, half moped”, Van Aert wrote during his activity on Strava. Van Aert often gets that nickname and now he even has stockings with that inscription.

Van Aert’s next big goal is of course the road race of the World Cycling Championships in Australia (Sunday 25 September). To prepare for the World Cup, Van Aert may return to competition with the German BEMER Cyclassics on August 21. After that, the Brittany Classic and two games in Canada are also on his provisional schedule.
