Benzema, Courtois and De Bruyne, nominated for UEFA Best Player of the Year

French striker Benzema was named Player of the Season for the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League, a trophy that was awarded to him before the European Super Cup in Helsinhki, especially thanks to the 15 goals scored in a competition that raised his equipment.

The Belgian goalkeeper Courtois conquered the Spanish League with Real Madrid, he was the Man of the Match in the Champions League final, with several interventions of great merit against Liverpool.

De Bruyne, listed in the final three nominees for the third consecutive season, was named Premier League Player of the Season after guiding City to another domestic titlethe fourth in his seven seasons with the English club.

The final three nominees, drawn from an initial list of 15 players drawn up by a UEFA technical study group, were selected by a jury made up of: the clubs that participated in the UEFA Champions League group stage, the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League 2021/22; and a group of journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM).

The jury members chose their three best players, the first received five points, the second three and the third one. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their own team.
