Ramón Domínguez, the judo teacher who has spent four decades teaching defense to the police

Ramon Dominguez is one of the protagonists today Antenna 3 Sports. The canary, orphan since he was 14 years old, found in judo a path to move forward that has made him an institution within the police.

His skills with this martial art and his entry into the body soon led him to stand out among his peers. At just 25 years old, he was already a teacher to some of the veterans and has been for more than four decades teaching defense and immobilization techniques.

Now, at 69 years old and already retired, Ramón has a plaque at the police station where he worked throughout his career and speaks excitedly of the affection that the rest of the agents still show him.

“My classmates kiss me, hug me, call me teacher… Teacher? I’m still an apprentice,” he tells us.

Ramón, seventh dan in judo, talks about the importance of knowledge over force and how he has tried to transmit all that knowledge to the rest of the police.

“In forty years, no one has touched my face. Don’t worship the body, surrender it to knowledge. Muscles are useless if we don’t know how to use them,” he explains.
