The Gunners Lead by Two Goals in the First Half

Jakarta

Arsenal lead 2-0 at half-time when they travel to Bournemouth in the third week of the Premier League this season. Martin Odegaard appeared to be the difference with the two goals he created.

Playing at the Vitality Stadium, Saturday (20/8/2022), Arsenal were ahead in the 5th minute. Gabriel Jesus made an individual move to break through the Bournemouth defence, then sent Gabriel Martinelli’s pass into the box.

Martinelli’s shot could still be blocked by goalkeeper Mark Travers, but the ball vomited directly by Martin Odegaard and into the host’s goal. The 1-0 score for Arsenal did not last long because in the 11th minute, they broke into Bournemouth’s goal again.

Ben White’s horizontal crossing from the left was successfully accepted by Jesus. He controlled the ball, but it rolled to the feet of Odegaard. The Gunners captain did not hesitate to fire a shot that nestled heavily in the left corner of Travers’ goal.

Arsenal had a three-goal lead through a corner in the 13th minute when Gabriel Magalhaes found the ball, but his header went wide to the left of the net.

After conceding two goals, Bournemouth played closer. No more shots penetrated their defenses.

Jesus’ header and Bukayo Saka’s long-range strike were blocked in the 22nd minute. Likewise with Odegaard’s long-range shot and Jesus’ experiment in the 40th minute. The Gunners practically no longer had a dangerous chance in the first half.

But Bournemouth itself could not get out of Arsenal’s pressure. During the first 45 minutes, they only had the ball about 27 percent and failed to release a single shot. The score of 2-0 lasted until halftime.
