The basketball and handball teams of the Mamak Municipality will compete in the leagues under the roof of MKE Ankaragücü from the 2022-2023 season.
The launch regarding the transfer of basketball and handball clubs within the body of Mamak Municipality to MKE Ankaragücü was held at Eryaman Stadium.
In his speech, MKE Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca pointed out that Ankaragücü is an important club that has turned over a century and said, “Our club has a structure that generally stands out with the football team. But there are many branches of sports. Unfortunately, there has been neglect in matters related to amateur branches until today. ” said.
“Ankaragücü is an important brand.” Koca said that they are happy to add basketball and handball branches to the yellow-dark blue club.
Stating that they are active in wrestling, boxing, badminton, weightlifting and table tennis, Koca said:
“With this contract, the basketball and handball teams belonging to the Mamak Municipality will now take their place within the corporate structure of Ankaragücü. One year, we will be on the field as MKE Ankaragücü Mamak Municipality. After a year, we will be in front of the sports community with the name Ankaragücü. We will make an effort. Unfortunately, in our culture, all institutions are progressing in an individual-oriented manner. The culture of institutionalization is very weak in our geography. Turning Ankaragücü into a corporate structure with all its units in all branches is the greatest success.”
Mentioning that they are making great efforts to strengthen the infrastructure in football, Koca said, “We have brought the most expert teams in Turkey’s infrastructure to Ankaragücü infrastructure. We want facilities that will support Ankaragücü infrastructure, especially in big districts. Many of our mayors said that they will support in this sense. We especially expect this in Mamak. “We especially request that a facility be built that will include at least 1 big and 3-4 small fields. We have received this promise from our president by confirming in your presence. I hope Ankaragücü will come to the place it deserves with all its corporate structures and branches.” used his statements.
Mamak Mayor Murat Köse stated that they witnessed a historical moment and said, “We, as Mamak Municipality, are here to give a nice gift to our Ankaragücü, who is back in the Super League in football.” said.
Emphasizing that they have always supported Ankaragücü, Köse said, “We are transferring our teams from Mamak Municipality in the Turkish Basketball First League and Mamak Municipality in the Turkish Handball Super League to Ankaragücü without any charge. With this transfer, the names of our teams for a year are MKE Ankaragücü Mamak Municipality Handball Club. and MKE Ankaragücü Mamak Municipality Basketball Club. I believe that our basketball team will also make it to the Super League with Ankaragücü.” he said.
After the speeches, Koca and Köse signed the protocol regarding the transfer of basketball and handball clubs.
