DThe Munich public prosecutor’s office has discontinued preliminary proceedings against the President of the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV), Jörg Ammon. Ammon announced this on Tuesday to the FAZ on request. The proceedings on suspicion of breach of trust to the detriment of the BLSV had been terminated in accordance with Section 170 (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
This is possible if the public prosecutor comes to the conclusion that there is insufficient suspicion of a crime. Ammon was reported by three colleagues in the BLSV presidium, Alfons Hölzl, President of the German Gymnastics Association, Klaus Drauschke, President of the Bavarian Volleyball Association, and Harald Stempfer, formerly responsible for the federal bases of the German Ski Association.
They “asked” the public prosecutor’s office to check whether Ammon had violated statutes when awarding contracts worth millions to modernize his association.
The “Spiegel” published the process a week before the election of a new executive committee of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). Ammon, a tax consultant and auditor, was forced to withdraw his candidacy for the post of vice president of the DOSB.
