Morocco withdraws from two sports competitions planned in Tunisia

After karate and basketball, it is the turn of the Royal Moroccan Handball Federation (FRMHB) to announce the withdrawal of Moroccan clubs involved in two interclub competitions planned in Tunisia next September and October.

The diplomatic crisis between Morocco and Tunisia has repercussions on the sporting level with boycotts of Moroccan clubs. The Royal Moroccan Handball Federation (FRMHB) is following in the footsteps of other disciplines, which announced before it the cancellation of their participation in the competitions planned in Tunisia.

In a press release, the FRMHB affirms that Wydad de Smara will not participate in the Arab championship (September 17-27). Along the same lines, Raja d’Agadir withdrew from the African Club Championship (September 28 to October 10). A few days ago, the Meknes Omnisports Club (CODM) announced the withdrawal of its women’s basketball section from the Arab championship scheduled in Tunisia from September 20 to 29.

Without forgetting the Royal Moroccan Federation of Mixed and Free Combat Sport which had also announced the non-participation of the Moroccan delegation in the North African championship which was to take place in Tunisia from September 7 to 11. The boycott is general and it does not only come from Morocco. Other countries have announced their absence from the competitions planned in Tunisia.
