This noon the councilors of the Together block participated in the delivery of the recognition of “Honor to Citizen Merit” to the Olavarriense Olympic paddler Lucas Diaz Aspirozwhich was part of the Argentine Canoeing Teamparticipated in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the Paracanoe World Championships in Copenhagen and currently it is world number 8 in this sport.
The project to reward the athlete was presented at the deliberative Council by the Together block and approved unanimously, becoming the Resolution No. 098/21.
In the framework of the debate, the councilor Guillermina Amespil He said that the athlete had an accident at the age of 19 and some time later he approached canoeing through the Student Club and hand in hand with his colleague Agustin Vernice.
In this sense, he highlighted that Lucas continued to train during the pandemic “tirelessly” and thus achieved a great participation in the Paralympicyes “He is a source of pride in sports, an olavarriense who carries the name of the city high,” said Amespil.
Currently Lucas Diaz Aspiroz continues to perform in various sports activities and reaping achievements. Last July he became the national champion of Para-Badminton in his category.
Lucas represents an example for the inclusion of people with disabilities in sports and physical and personal improvement, which is expressed in his header phrase: “Life puts you obstacles, you put the limits on yourself”.
