For this penultimate day of competition under the sign of bad weather, the Blues know the end of their team adventure. Tomorrow will be the semi-finals for the last two tricolor archers in the running, Guillaume Quetel in the straight bow and David Jackson in the bare bow.
After a morning disrupted by bad weather and the flooding of the finals pitch, the team matches were able to take place two hours late on the training ground, which had been refurbished accordingly.
Unfortunately, neither of the two French teams manages to find a place in the final four. The threesome Rémy Albanese – Robin Gardeur – David Jackson, despite being 1st in qualifying, had started well by taking a one-point lead at the start of the match against Norway. However, the Norwegian shooters quickly took the lead over the Blues who made a few errors, notably two 8s, while their opponents did not move away from the 10. They ended up losing with the score of 124 to 115, dropping their chances of bringing home another medal.

Same fate for the women’s team, which will not go beyond the quarter-finals either. Alicia Baumert, Mylène Bouteleux and Daniele Ramos, who faced Sweden, got off to a tough start by falling two points behind their opponents with a 5 on the first target. Despite a 5 shot by the Swedes on the next end, Les Bleues struggled to rectify the situation and saw the gap widen, while their opponent of the day finished the match in style with 117 points against 107 for France.
With already two medals brought back in mixed, Guillaume Quetel (straight bow) and David Jackson (bare bow) will shoot tomorrow in the individual semi-finals in the hope of increasing the tricolor delegation’s medal count.
