SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORIS.- In an emotional act full of memories and remembrances of the prestigious San Martin del Porres club, the jerseys of the stellar great players of the golden age of Franco-Macori basketball were withdrawn.
The emotional act carried out in the Mario Ortega pavilion (El Aguila) saw the removal of the shirts of the stars Anderson Hernández, Wilkin Jiménez and Ricardo Ramón before the great ovation of the hundreds of followers of the San Martin de Porres club.
The trilogy of players received a beautiful recognition worthy of the three luminaries who were not only for this prestigious institution but also for basketball in the Duarte province, who worthily represented the yellow and black color of the Duarte province in provincial and national events.
The activity was led by renowned leaders of Professor Fernando Teruel, sports glory of Dominican basketball, the president of the Basketball Association of the Duarte province, businessman Otto Conce, Dilcio Gabín, president of the organizing committee of the 2022 superior basketball, engineer Fabio Rojas, general manager of the Indians of San Francisco, the engineer Tabare Peña, president of the Association of Sports Chroniclers of the Duarte province, among other athletes from this city.
The graduate Héctor Castillo, coordinator of the 2022 superior team of the San Martín club, highlighted that the withdrawal of these three shirts is a fair recognition of the great feats and dedication of these players in favor of the institution.
“The three marked a history of many achievements and successes in Franco-Macori basketball, they were a fundamental part in the conquest of several championships for the white squad of San Martin de Porres,” he emphasized.
On his side, the president of the Association of Sports Writers of the Duarte province, engineer Tabare Peña Reyes, valued Ricardo Ramón Anderson Hernández and Wilkin Jiménez as three great sports heroes.
“They wrote golden pages in Franco-Macori basketball, they filled the sport of the hoop and the ball with glory in the country and especially in the San Martin de Porres club, whom they guided to win numerous tournaments in the upper league with reinforcements,” explained Peña Reyes.
