Great performance of the Fuegian representatives in the first edition of the Patagonian Integration Games. They harvested 39 medals throughout the three days of competition. Ten of them were gold, fourteen silver and fifteen bronze.
BIG RIVER.- On Sunday, the Closing Ceremony of the first edition of the Patagonian Integration Games was held. The secretary of Sports and Youth, Carlos Turdó, and the undersecretaries Gabriel Coto and Pablo Pereira were present, accompanying the highest authorities of the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro, Santa Cruz, Chubut and La Pampa.
The act included the delivery of badges for the judges and referents of each of the technical commissions that elaborated from the regulations to the fixtures of each of the disciplines. And in addition, it was announced that the second edition of the games will be in the province of Chubut.
Secretary Carlos Turdó celebrated the very good performance of the Fuegian boys and girls, and the excellent achievements achieved throughout the sports weekend. In addition, he highlighted the commitment and accompaniment of coaches, coaches, technical bodies and especially thanked the support of the families of the athletes. In turn, he highlighted the work commitment of the Secretariat staff who were in charge of the logistics, transfer and permanent assistance of the delegation.
Regarding the final day of the Integration Games, in Taekwondo the team fight modality was carried out, and the team from Tierra del Fuego managed to stay with the first place in the tournament.
The Fuegian team was made up of Martino Donati, Santino Molinas and Dylan Poblete, and in the semifinal instance, the boys defeated the representative of La Pampa, while in the final key, they defeated Río Negro (39-25).
On the other hand, on the last day of competition, the last rounds of Archery were played and the final classification indicated that in the female U-15 category, Shania Morane from Fuegian was the best of all and won the gold medal. , being the most outstanding shooter. In the team classification, Shania Morane herself, together with Dimas Van Aert, achieved a valuable third place and the bronze medal.
While the Fuegian Table Tennis team won one more medal and closed its participation with the third place achieved by the duo made up of Mariano Torres and María Luz Ascencio, who won the bronze medal in the “mixed doubles” modality.
In the final award ceremony, the duet made up of Franco Elgueta and Mariano Torres himself received their medals, who also won the bronze.
On Sunday, the Olympic lifting athletes added two more medals: in the women’s up to 64 kg category, Florencia Ríos won the silver medal and the gold went to Thiago Martínez who competed in the men’s 81 kg category.
The achievements of the Fuegian athletes mentioned, are added to those obtained on the second day of competitions last Saturday, which were the following: Sayra Odiante (gold medal), Morena Genovese (silver medal) and Esteban Amarilla (gold medal) .
In the discipline of artistic gymnastics: the gold medal went to Analía Ruston on floor, who also achieved second place in both uneven bars and vault, adding two silver medals. In the male branch, Antuan Díaz Paladea reached the bronze on floor. In the individual artistic gymnastics modality both Ruston and Díaz Paladea achieved second and third place respectively.
Finally, in teams, the Fuegians won two more medals: silver for Analía Ruston and Victoria Stronatti and bronze for Mateo Aguilar and Antuan Díaz Paladea.
In tennis, the Tierra del Fuego representatives were placed in fourth place overall, although due to the Tierra del Fuego award modality they reached third place, in the male singles category with the player Lucio Lapadula. The fueguinos also achieved the 3rd. placed in the mixed doubles category, with the duo made up of Martina Casimiro and Iván Coto Bersier.
For its part, the Fuegian Badminton team managed to close the tournament with a joy reflected in a medal obtained by Milena Rivero, (bronze medal) in the “female single” modality. While we must highlight the good work of the duo made up of Solange Piñeiro and Gonzalo Remolcoy, who fought for the bronze but could not. It is also worth noting the fourth place of the female duo and the male duo.
The Fuegians left their mark on the PCD Table Tennis of the Patagonian Integration Games, which yesterday had its closing day and award ceremony. To the victories achieved at the end of the day on Saturday, and on Sunday, we must add the bronze medal of Iván Suigo, which added one more to his personal account.
In total there were five medals obtained in these games. Iván Suigo got one gold and one bronze, while Milagro Cárcamo got the gold and Claudio Condori got the bronze just like Jennifer Galván.
In the last rounds of Shooting, Lara Santa Cruz from Rio Grande won her divisional division and won a valuable gold medal, while Hugo García and Benjamín López won the silver medal in their respective categories. In this way, the Fuegian PCD Archery team closed its participation with three medals and a very good overall result.
The Fuegian Badminton PCD team closed its participation with great joy due to the good results and the medals. Regarding the female branch, Celeste Frem from Fuegian won the final with the representative from Santa Cruz, and hung the gold medal around her neck, in the “female single” category.
While in the “men’s single” Nahuel Maza from Fuegian won the final of the tournament, defeating the representative from Río Negro in the third and decisive set, and thus won the gold medal.
In addition, Laura De Vito obtained a valuable silver medal, which completes the three medals won by the Fuegian Badminton PCD team in these Patagonian Integration Games.
On Saturday, medals continued to be awarded to the Tierra del Fuego delegation, in this case to the Fuegian Olympic Wrestling team, who won four medals on the second day of the Patagonian Integration Games. The Fuegian wrestler with the highest performance was Tobías Valdivia (70kg) who won a valuable silver medal. While Pablo Suárez (55kg), David Núñez (60kg) and Thiago Díaz (65kg), managed to hang the bronze medal in this first experience of the Patagonian Games.
