The Zurich San Sebastián Marathon, which will be held on November 27, is heading towards its 44th edition with two major novelties. A renewed circuit and the recovery of the Half Marathon. Registrations are going at a good pace and, with more than 2 months to go, the barrier of 3,000 participants has already been overcome.

With a format of one short lap and two asymmetrical long laps, it is a practically flat circuit that will go through the most emblematic places of the city. The Cathedral of Buen Pastor, Avenida de la Libertad, Paseo de La Concha, the Reale Arena, the Kursaal cubes, Plaza Gipuzkoa or the Vitoria Eugenia Theater will see the heroes who will face each other from the magical distance of the 42,195 meters.

The start will be located on Hernani street, where the Tour de France started 30 years ago, and the finish line will be on the Boulevard, an iconic place that has experienced great feats in sports events such as the Behobia-San Sebastián or the Donostia-Cycling Classic. Saint Sebastian.

The first round will run through the main streets of the city center. The second round will begin on Avenida de la Libertad in the direction of La Concha and the Antiguo neighborhood. When the race returns, it will pass through the neighborhoods of Amara, Anoeta, the Center and Gros. The third lap will continue to be very similar to the second, although it will extend through two areas: Paseo de Portuetxe to the Citroen dealership, and the Loyola Barracks roundabout. At the end of the third lap, the magnificent straight will be faced, of more than 1 kilometer, along the emblematic Boulevard, completely flat until the finish line.

With this new circuit, which will be approved by the RFEA, they will try to break the records of the event in both the male and female categories. And it is that 27 years have passed since Ana Isabel Alonso broke the Spanish record in 1995 with a fantastic time of 2:26:51. This brand is still the women’s record of the test and the record of Spain. Despite the evolution that athletics has undergone, no woman has managed to beat the Palencia brand. In the men’s category, the mark belongs to Thimoty Cherigat in 2002, with 2:09.34.
