The Gwangju City Waterworks Headquarters announced on the 15th that the installation of the Bongseon Drainage Reservoir, located on the border between Yongsan District in Dong-gu and Bongseon-dong in Nam-gu, has been completed.

Since June 2017, the city has been investing 47.8 billion won to build the Bongseon Drainage Reservoir with a facility capacity of 23,000 tons, the 10.5km-long transmission and drainage pipelines, and the upper children’s park at the boundary between Yongsan District in Dong-gu and Bongseon-dong in Nam-gu.

With the completion of this construction, the direct water supply area in Yongsan district, Seo-gu, and Nam-gu in Dong-gu will be improved to an indirect water supply area, and normal operation will begin on the 24th.


Accordingly, it has secured the ability to supply water for 12 hours even in the event of a water quality accident, and has been able to supply tap water more stably through water pressure equalization.

According to the operation of the Bongseon Drainage Reservoir, the city waterworks business headquarters will operate from the 22nd to the 23rd in Dong-gu (Sotae, Yongsan-dong), Seo-gu (Nongseong, Gwangcheon, Hwajeong, Pungam, Yang-dong), and Nam-gu (Bongseon, Bangrim, Yangnim, Baegun, Juwol, Jinwol). ·Wolsan/Sa/Seo-dong) plans to change the water system by improving the direct water supply area to the indirect water supply area.

As cloudy water may occur to some consumers, they urged them to receive the water they need before the 22nd, refrain from using washing machines and water purifiers during the expected time of cloudy water, and check the water quality after the 24th.
