The Municipal Sports Schools of Badajoz will begin the 2022-2023 academic year as of October 5 with 5,142 places offered in 24 sports disciplines without restrictions related to the covid-19 pandemic such as bubble groups.
As a novelty, a pilot project is included that will be taught at the Santa Engracia center through two sports activities, chess and badminton, during school hours from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Physical Education area, with the aim of hand of the educational center itself and authorized by the Junta de Extremadura, to combat absenteeism that “unfortunately exists in this center” with “sports motivation”, in addition to trying to promote sports activity after school hours, reports Europa Press.

Gragera referred to the work carried out by the workers of the Municipal Sports Foundation (FMD) and made a special mention of the clubs that collaborate with the latter in 12 of the proposed activities with as many clubs that are in charge of the management, through an agreement, of those disciplines. He also stressed that there are 24 sports activities proposed, 12 provided by the FMD and 12 through agreements with clubs, which will be divided into 289 work groups, 12 of which are advanced, and which will be developed in 61 initial installations.
Gragera explained that the staff is made up of a general coordinator, four monitors who will be the group leaders and another 58 monitors. The budget is 450,000 euros, 2% more than the previous year. For students, these schools, unlike other places, are “completely free,” she stressed.
Novelty, inclusive dragon
Together with the aforementioned project in Santa Engracia, a new sports modality, inclusive dragon, is created as a novelty, managed by the Extremadura Canoeing Club with 20 places for children with and without special needs, Gragera highlighted, who also highlighted that two groups remain dedicated to kids with special needs, such as the pre-sports games in Gévora and psychomotricity in Nuestra Señora de la Luz.
