Liverpool have come no further than a 3-3 draw at home against Brighton. In a great game of football, Leandro Trossard was the star with a fantastic hat-trick.

Notable stats:

  • Leandro Trossard is only the 3rd player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick as a visitor against Liverpool at Anfield. The other two are Andrei Arshavin (even 4 goals) for Arsenal and Peter Ndlovu for Coventry City.
  • Leandro Trossard really likes to play against Liverpool. In his last 6 games, the Belgian scored no less than 5 times against the Reds.

While Leandro Trossard cannot count on a permanent base place at the Red Devils, that has been the case at Brighton for a while. New coach De Zerbi also immediately dropped our compatriot between the lines.

On a visit to Liverpool, our compatriot gave the visitors an absolute dream start with two great goals within the first 20 minutes.

Anfield grumbled, but around the hour the Reds completely rectified the lopsided situation. Firmino made it 2-2 shortly before and after the break, after which Webster outwitted his own goalkeeper not much later.

Brighton appeared to be getting back on the bus empty-handed, but still had one trump card up his sleeve. Mitoma (ex-Union) put the ball in front of Trossard, who saw his hat trick end up in the goal via Alisson.

We can’t think of a better application for a basic place at the World Cup.

Trossard: “Scoring at Anfield is always fun and now I actually score a hat trick”

After the match, a radiant Leandro Trossard appeared in front of the camera with the match ball. “It’s always nice to score, especially at Anfield, and now I actually score a hat-trick.”

“It is of course a shame that we did not win, but a point here is also a good result. Both teams could have scored more, but Liverpool are a good team. So we can look back on the game with satisfaction.”

“I am also very proud of the team, because the way we reacted after falling behind was excellent. So this is also their credit.”

After the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea, Trossard now got a new coach with Roberto De Zerbi. Did our compatriot already notice a difference? “The new coach has already tried to work a lot on the tactical aspect this week, but of course he didn’t have much time due to the international break.”

“You can see that he is very passionate and I think we are going to have good times together”, the man of the match concluded.
