The Sanjo Beaters, a 3-a-side professional basketball team, wins the 3×3 Town Award.

The “3×3.EXE PREMIER 2022 AWARD”, which recognizes the winners of the three-player basketball professional league (commonly known as the Premier League) regular season, was held on September 19th at the Omori Bellport Atrium (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo). The Sanjo Beaters (SANJO BEATERS.EXE), a three-person professional basketball team based in the Shimoda area of ​​the city, won the 3×3 Town Award.

The “Town Award” is given to teams and organizations that have contributed to the development and spread of the region as a 3×3 town. Based on the concept of basketball and agriculture, the Sanjo Beaters encourages players and staff to relocate using the regional revitalization cooperation system.

We have opened a cheer school and a basketball academy, effectively utilizing the gymnasium of an elementary school that has been closed down, and continuing our activities rooted in the community. The energetic activity of not only discovering the franchise builder that will be the face of the team, but also strengthening it was evaluated.

Mr. Masahiko Shibayama (62), owner of SANJO BEATERS.EXE, said, “I’m really happy to receive this award. We were able to prove that our efforts were correct. The award was given to Sanjo Beaters by Sanjo City, sponsors, and local people. I am grateful to all the people who have supported us. I am proud of the players and staff who have worked hard. The real thing is from now on.”

Takuya Namiki (45), captain of the Sanjo Beaters, said, “I’m really happy to receive such an award. While pursuing evolution as a team, we have also been involved in various activities in the town, contributing to the revitalization of the region. I want to continue to contribute to the local community through 3×3,” he said about his aspirations for the next season.

For Sanjo Beaters, who started activities in 2019 with the goal of providing dreams and aspirations to the region and children, aiming for the world from the Shimoda area, this time’s award is the 2019 Regional Revitalization Award Excellence Award, 2020 Alright! This is the third medal following the Nippon Jury Chairman’s Award.
