Over the weekend, the U13 men’s and women’s basketball state championship was held at the Salvador Esquer Sports Unit in Cuautla.
The objective was to define the Morelos teams that will attend this year’s national championships in both branches, convened by the Mexican Basketball Sports Association (ADEMEBA).
In the meeting that took place between Saturday and Sunday, five squads for each branch met.
For the men’s, after playing all against all, the first place went to the Soles Cuernavaca team, leaving in second place the representative team of the Cuautla Interschool Sports League (LDIC U-13).
In third place was the Eastern Legion, in fourth was the team from the Colibríes Academy, and in fifth was the group from Abejas Cuernavaca.
For the women, the winning quintet was the Texas representative of the Cuautla Interscholastic Sports League.
The runner-up went to the Kennedy Lionesses, the Eastern Legion came in third, the Colibríes Academy team finished fourth (just like the men’s team), and the fifth place went to the 2010 Dragonas.
According to the president of ADEMEBA Morelos, Manuel Montenegro Almanza, the winning teams of the state championship will form the basis of the Morelos teams that will be participating in the following national championships.
The women’s National will be held this month in the state of Querétaro, while the men’s will be held in the Yaqui state of Sonora until December.
