LIV tempts Valderrama with 10 million dollars

The LIV Invitational, the circuit promoted by the Arab public fund, has proposed to Valderrama the holding of one of the tournaments on the calendar for next season, which would make the club from the Sotogrande urbanization the first Spanish course to host a round of the Tour led by Greg Norman.

The proposal, which would involve 10 million dollars for five years to the coffers of the Cadiz club, is subject to the members, who do not reach 500, giving their approval to this LIV test to be held in early July 2023, as stated in a first draft of the circuit.

The Real Club de Golf de Valderrama, founded in 1985, was the scene of the 1997 Ryder Cup and for several seasons it was the finale of the European Tour with the celebration of the Volvo Masters. In addition, it hosted two editions of the Amex, world championship, and the 2016 Spanish Open.

Spain is not the only Spanish-speaking country in which the LIV has been established. The organizers have also set their sights on Mexico and the Mayakoba facilities -which still host a PGATour test- or Guadalajara will host another stop on the repudiated Tour.
