You could even tell by looking at Gustav Iden as he dove into the crowd on Ali’i Drive, ripped the ribbon, and the wreath fell on his head. “The last few kilometers the island really tried to bring me down,” said the new Hawaii champion from Norway later, “it was really epic.”
