Venezuelan athletes, Leodan Torrealbaof the triple jump discipline and, rose rodriguezhammer throwers, were the representatives to wear the tricolor this Saturday during the closing of the Asunción 2022 South American Games.
The Venezuelan delegation finished in fifth place with a total of 131 medals, among which 31 gold medals stand out, and participated in 41 disciplines. It is also important to note that the Vinotinto in women’s soccer won the gold medal by beating Uruguay 2-2 (4-5).
Earlier, the Creoles arrived on their homeland from the Maiquetía Simón Bolívar International Airport where they were received by their relatives, friends and the Venezuelan people.
The Venezuelan cyclist, Orluis Aular, who won gold for our country, thanked the entire Bolivarian nation for its support. “I am grateful to have been the flag bearer. I fulfilled the objective that was to chase the gold medal. We try to leave our country on top,” he maintained.
For her part, Waleska Ojeda, silver medalist in rhythmic gymnastics, thanked all the technicians and all the people who accompany them daily to achieve their dreams.
