Undoubtedly, Lukáš Dlouhý experienced the most successful year of his career in 2009. He won the French Open and the US Open with the Indian Leander Paes, and they were in the finals of the Australian Grand Slam that year. “I started playing with him when he was already a star. We met on the stairs in Monte Carlo and he simply told me that we would be playing together in a week,” smiles the former tennis player, who has been mainly training Lucie Havlíčková for the last year.

The 17-year-old Czech tennis player is currently the junior world number one and belongs to the biggest talents of Czech tennis. “They called me from Sparta that there was such a clever but naughty little girl. She was sixteen then,” says Dlouhý.

The Czech tennis player was chosen by Roger Federer himself to play before the match. “I guess it was because I played well in doubles and I stayed in tournaments as long as he did, but at the same time I was no competition for him in singles,” thinks Dlouhý, who in the Dobojováno podcast also remembers training Barbora Strýcová and laughs in amazement friends of hockey players who do not understand the system of shared locker rooms during tennis tournaments.

“They were surprised that in the cabin, as they call it, we don’t beat our opponents with hockey sticks,” recalls the tennis player. You can watch the entire interview on video, or play it in the audio player at the beginning of the article. In a week, you can look forward to an interview with cyclist Roman Kreuziger.

What is a podcast and why don’t you call it Czech?

Podcasts are recordings of the spoken word placed on the Internet where anyone can play them. The plus of podcasts compared to radio broadcasts is the possibility to listen to your favorite program anytime and anywhere. If you’re on your way to work, on vacation, or don’t want to spend the evening staring at TV, you only need to have your mobile phone with you, ideally headphones. The English word podcast comes from the combination of the words iPod and broadcast, there is no established equivalent in Czech yet.

Novinky has also been publishing podcasts since last year.
