This Sunday, November 13, on the occasion of the celebration of the 57th edition of the Behobia-San Sebastián, there will be significant traffic conditions between Donostia and Behobia, on the outskirts of the route, from 06:20 a.m. until the end of the test.
The race will start at 09:30 am for participants in wheelchairs, five minutes later the participants on skates will leave and at 9:55 it will be the turn of the start of the test on foot. It will begin in Behobia, next to the Island of the Pheasants and will run from Irun along the GI-636 road, to climb the Gaintxurizketa peak and access the town of Errenteria via this same road. Next, the race will enter Pasai Antxo through Avda. Nafarroa and through this it will enter Donostia through Alto de Miracruz, Gros and Paseo de la Zurriola, ending on the Boulevard. The last participants will take the start in Behobia at around 11:45 am.
traffic conditions
From 6:20 a.m. until the end of the cleaning work, the section of the GI-636, in Irun, between the Oxinbiribil roundabout and the Behobia roundabout will be cut in both directions, for all types of vehicles. An alternative diversion will be established for passenger cars through Polígono 54 in Irun and for heavy vehicles through the AP-8 motorway.
Starting at 08:30 a.m., in the Gaintxurizketa area, a bypass will be established, in such a way that one part of the road (direction Irun) will be used to channel the passage of the participants towards Errenteria and the other (direction Donostia) It will be for the circulation of vehicles, connecting with the GI-2638 road (Gaintxurizketa-Lezo).
Also starting at 08:15 a.m., the section of the GI-636, from km 7.9 (start of Alto de Gaintxurizketa) to km 2.5 (Altamira) will be closed to traffic in both directions and the aforementioned detour will be established alternatively by the GI-2638, to the Altamira roundabout, from where you can connect again with the GI-636, in the area of the Don Bosco tunnel.
recommendations
Taking into account the great participation in the test (with 30,000 people registered) and the long period of time that the GI-636 road was closed, between Gaintxurizketa and Pasaia, it is recommended to use alternative routes between Irun, Donostia and the rest of the affected towns for the race. During the celebration of the test it is forbidden to carry out any activity on the road that does not correspond to that authorized.
Likewise, during the hours prior to the race, pedestrians walking along the roads where the Behobia-San Sebastián will take place must pay special attention to the rules on pedestrian traffic on the road or on the hard shoulder (circular cautiously, not to block traffic, walk in line, wear reflective clothing, etc.), without engaging in risky behavior.
