Latvian figure skater Deniss Vasiļjevs, competing in his second “Grand Prix” competition of the season on Friday in Sheffield, Great Britain, took third place after the short program.

Vasiljevs received 42.45 points for technical elements and 41.56 points for program components. One point was deducted from Daugavpils, so his performance was evaluated with 83.01 points.
The leader after the short program is Roman Sadovskis from Canada, whose performance was evaluated with 89.49 points. The second place with 86.85 points is occupied by Daniel Grasl, who beat the Daugavpils at this year’s European Championship in Tallinn and became the European vice-champion.
12 figure skaters participate in the competition.
The selection program will be held on Saturday at 22.05 Latvian time.
At the “Grand Prix” held in Canada at the end of October, Vasilijevs ranked tenth. Each athlete may participate in two stages.
The fourth “Grand Prix” stage of the season is held this weekend.
This season, there will be six stages of the “Grand Prix” and the final stage, planned from December 8 to 11 in the Italian city of Turin. The six best figure skaters will qualify for the finals.
