Ten days after the layoff of Youssef Chibhi, Versailles holds its new coach. According to our information, it is the Brazilian Cris. A little surprise since several other names had been mentioned such as those of Jean-Luc Vasseur, Frédéric Hantz, David Bechkoura, Oswald Tanchot or benoît Tavenot. The formative profile of the latter particularly pleased the leaders of Versailles. But he declined.
Four times champion of France with Lyon
Cris has just been dismissed on November 6 from Le Mans, 11th in National where he arrived in June 2021. Ten days later, he therefore bounces back to the very ambitious Versailles club which currently occupies 2nd place in National.
Arrived in 2004 in France, the former Brazilian central defender, now 45, marked the history of Olympique Lyonnais for eight years, notably with four French L1 championship titles and two French cups. It was in Lyon that he began his retraining as a coach with the club’s U15s. He then trained MDA Chasselay, a National 2 club, near Lyon. He also graduated from the BEPF (professional football coach certificate) in France.
After having missed the rise in L2 with Le Mans, he will therefore try to bring Versailles to this level for the first time.
