Practices open to local media for the resumption of league games | Shiga Lakes

On November 17th, the Shiga Lakes released their practice to the local media before the league game resumed for the first time in three weeks from this weekend.

From this day on, Umi Teves, who participated in the “FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Regional Qualifier Windoe5” as a representative of Japan, joined the team. During the one-and-a-half-hour practice, under the supervision of acting head coach Yasuyuki Yasuda, the final confirmation of tactics and coordination was carried out for the match against the Ryukyu Golden Kings (venue: Okinawa Arena) from the 19th.

Following are the comments from acting HC Yasuda and captain Teppei Kashiwakura after practice.

Yasuyuki Yasuda Acting HC

Q. Appointed as acting HC.What kind of team do you want to aim for?

I want to create a team that can put its philosophy into practice and express it on the court. It’s a tough situation (ranking), but we’re just going to move up from this situation, so in that sense, I think this team has the potential to aim higher.

Q.What is your enthusiasm for the new system?

There is good communication between player and player and coach and player. Going forward, I think the key will be how to mix the strengths of the players based on their characteristics with the club’s goal of “strong defense and fast-paced basketball.” Rather than playing basketball mechanically, the goal is for players to make their own decisions and play within a prepared system. I want to captivate the boosters with a basket where the players enjoy playing while working hard.

Q. Message to booster

The support from the boosters will be a source of strength, and I want to create a team that can express what everyone expects of us on the court. Thank you for your support.

#14 Teppei Kashiwakura

Q. How do you want to compete in the future under the new system?

We failed to make a good start, but there are games where we have been able to embody the basketball that we are aiming for, so I think it is not a pessimistic situation. There were many accidents, but from now on, we will work together as a team and give our best in each and every match in front of us.

Q.What is the style of basketball you aim for?

I think defense is the most important, so I want to be more conscious of my aggressive attitude and defending as a team. We want to bring it to a fast development from the start, so I hope we can make baskets with faster transitions.

Q.Changed to acting HC Yasuda?

I think I’m playing in a good atmosphere with a new feeling under the acting coach Yasuda. However, if we don’t deliver the win to the boosters, they won’t be able to support us.

Q. Future enthusiasm

We have a clear goal of qualifying for the championship, so we will fight for that goal without wavering. And I will do my best to deliver victory so that each player can give energy to the boosters through their play.

Q.A word to boosters

There may be times when we are shaken by various changes, but as a team, we are well prepared for the resumption of league games. I would be happy if you could support me at the venue. Please fight with us. Thank you for your support.
