Puntigamer Sturm Graz has prematurely extended the contract with successful coach Christian Ilzer by one year until 2025. This was announced by the runner-up on Thursday. In addition to Ilzer, the entire coaching team around Uwe Hölzl, Dominik Deutschl (both co-trainers), Marco Angeler (fitness and condition) and Paul Pajduch (Head of Scouting) received a new contract until 2025.

It is something “very nice when you feel and see that our way of working and our commitment is recognized and valued,” said Ilzer. Head of sport Andreas Schicker was also satisfied. The signed contract extension is “an absolute confirmation of the path we have taken together,” said the sporting director.

Ilzer is “one of the essential building blocks” for the fact that the Styrians have developed so well as a club. “Our entire coaching team has done an excellent job from day one in Graz and has put a lot of time, heart and soul into the day-to-day work with the team.”

After 16 laps, Sturm went into the winter break in second place, six points behind Salzburg. The lead over the third LASK is also six points. In the group stage of the Europa League, the Ilzer squad was eliminated in fourth place with a historic record of eight points. Recently there had been rumors about an interest in Ilzer from the German Bundesliga.
