This weekend is the day: the doors of the greenhouses on Tjalke van der Walstraat will open for the Winter Fair Koudum. After months of preparation, the promotion team Koudum has transformed the greenhouses of Fleurig Buiten into an atmospheric, cozy and nicely covered Winter Wonderland. For two days, these greenhouses are filled with about fifty market stalls and various crafts, products and services are offered.
There will also be several food trucks present, with a diverse range of delicious food. In addition, in collaboration with local entrepreneurs, there is coffee, tea, glühwein, soft drinks, poffertjes, chowder, etc. on the catering square. For later in the evening there is a stronger alternative.
The Winter Fair will be open on Saturday 26 November from 13:00 to 20:00. In addition to the aforementioned stalls and food trucks, entertainment is also provided: live music, theater acts, a children’s corner (with the option of face painting). Visitors can also take a chance, because there are great prizes to be won at the spinning wheel. The Winter Fair will be open on Sunday 27 November from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Koudum music corps Nij Libben will then provide a performance, there will be a fashion show, but there will also be various other musicians and acts.
In recent weeks, the Koudumer promotion team at the Facebook page many tips have already been lifted from the veil regarding the preparations and the implementation of the Winterfair. A complete list of exhibitors can be viewed on the website of the Promotion Team Koudum. There we also see Koudumer entrepreneurs, such as Corriente with wooden products, florist Blom and Blêd with Christmas pieces, Nanda women’s fashion, Parfum Deo with drugstore items or FAVE the label with handmade candles, candlesticks, pillows and many other home accessories.
Another small selection: Wiebe Hiemstra and Wiekie Keuning, originally from Koudum, are there with cowhides, sheepskins, slippers, horns. Particularly pleasant when the stove is somewhat lower! At the stand of tea and vintage shop Filsen there is a lot of cozy warm winter tea (choice from about 90 varieties!) and a selection of vintage treasures and candles from the shop in Sneek. Durkje’s Bird Cakes and Gift Packages will be available on Saturday and Jan Mulder and Anja de Groot will be there with their homemade natural soap on Sunday.
In terms of entertainment, there is theater group VET COOL Entertainment and a performance by De Bier Troubador. Children can have their photo taken with cartoon character Tomke, who has the craziest adventures with his dog Romke, or can decorate cupcakes at the stall of De zoet snoot. And there is also a stall with wooden toys, for example, suitable for children from 0 years.
There is more than enough to eat (or snack). There are stalls with apple strudel, granola, muffins and cookies, with stroopwafels, with dry sausages, with pickled fruit and vegetables or with fudge, jam, syrups, chutneys and various other homemade delicacies. There are food trucks with typical Dutch products such as oliebollen and Liège waffles, poffertjes or freshly baked fish, but also with churros or with products from the Indonesian-Surinamese kitchen.
And many Koudum residents, and perhaps non-Koudum residents as well, are of course looking forward to the Christmas village that former Spoorzicht owner Peter van der Molen made in his now available free time and that can be admired on Saturday and Sunday at the Winterfair Koudum.
