Yaidel Gil rises to the top of the men’s singles

The player from the Balearic Islands won gold after defeating Gael Rodríguez (21-10/21-14), Carlos Dueñas (21-18/21-7), Mario Rodríguez from Granada in the quarterfinals after three intense sets (20-22/21-15/21-18) and the first seed Raúl Bergua in the semifinals (25-23/21-18).

On the opposite side of the field, Gonzalo Isabal reached the final after leaving CAETD midfielder Alberto Martínez (21-16/21-19) with bronze. And in the final clash for gold, the Ibizan Gil managed to defeat Isabal in three sets (23-21/17-21/21-17) to proclaim himself champion of Spain.

María Luisa Jiménez dominates the women’s singles

The CAETD native from Rute hung the gold without giving up any set in all the modality. In this way, in her career she beat Paula Casas (12-21/21-6), Aroa Navarette (7-21/21-14), María García (9-21/21-18), Carmen Carro in the semifinals ( 21-15/21-10), and Iziar Barcala in the final (21-10/21-13), showing the Andalusian great superiority in all their matches. The remaining podium place went to Sofía García, who after reaching the semifinals was defeated by Iziar Barcala (21-14/21-19).

Mario Rodríguez and Yaidel Gil achieve the finishing touch in the men’s doubles

The duo formed by Rodríguez and Gil (Granada/Portmany) completed a great test in which they began by defeating Joan Callau and Simón Moraz (21-12/21-15) in the round of 16; Pablo Pedrajas and Adrián Rodríguez in the quarterfinals (21-19/21-9); Raúl Bergua and Gonzalo Isabal (another of the favorite couples) in the semifinals (21-17/21-9). And finally, in the final they beat Gabriel Cañellas and Álex Tur (21-16/21-17) in two games. The remaining bronze went to Mateo Fernández and Miguel Payà, who after reaching the semifinals were defeated by Cañellas and Tur (21-16/21-14).

The couple made up of Jiménez and García (CAETD/Pitius) managed to prevail in the DF test after starting by defeating María García and Carolina Starace in the round of 16 (21-15/21-13), in the quarterfinals against Isabel Díaz and Candela Simón also in two sets (21-10/21-18); in the semifinals the Benalmadens Ana Agua and Alba Moriel (21-19/21-14); and in the final Iziar Barcala and Paula Yedra in three sets (21-13/18-21/21-19). The remaining place on the podium went to Blanca Cantón and Patricia Peña, who lost in the semifinals with Barcala/Yedra (21-15/21-13).

Mario Rodríguez and María Luisa Jiménez repeat gold in the mixed doubles

Jiménez got his third gold in the DX, while Rodríguez got his second champion’s medal. The Andalusian duo was proclaimed champion of Spain after defeating Lucas Valles and Leyre Simón in the round of 16 (21-4/21-7); Darío Míguez and Sara del Castillo in the quarterfinals (21-8/21-13); Yaidel Gil and Sofía García in the semifinals (11-21/21-19) and finally, Raúl Bergua and Iziar Barcala in the final (10-21/21-11). The remaining third place went to Álex Tur and Carmen Carro, who lost in the penultimate round with Bergua and Barcala (12-21/10-21).
