Argentina is about to reach the World Cup final. But the anger surrounding the Netherlands game continues to cause excitement. Fifa determined and requested television images. Ironically, from an Argentine broadcaster.
Mith a victory in the first semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar against Croatia on Tuesday (8 p.m.), Argentina can reach the final of the world tournament for the first time since 2014. The team’s preparations are overshadowed by anger over the quarter-final game against the Netherlands.
After the incidents surrounding the penalty shoot-out in the game of the round of eight teams (Argentina won 4-3), the world governing body Fifa is investigating players from both teams. Fifa has not yet announced exactly what it is about. Just this much: The South Americans are accused of possible violations of Article 12 (Misconduct by Players and Coaches) and Article 16 (Order and Safety at Games).
With this gesture, superstar Lionel Messi celebrated his goal against the Netherlands. After that there was trouble, television pictures should now help

According to reports from Argentina, there are supposed to be investigations into goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who yelled “I f***ed you twice” at the Dutch coaches and substitutes’ bench after saving two penalties. This is evidenced by television recordings.
Apparently, superstar Lionel Messi should also be investigated. BILD reports: Fifa asked the broadcasting Argentine television broadcaster TYC to release material. The broadcaster had four cameras focused exclusively on Messi during the game. It is not known exactly what Fifa wanted to see. It was about “the matter,” it said.
After his penalty goal to make it 2-0, Argentina’s captain Messi stood with his legs apart in front of the Dutch substitutes’ bench and put his hands behind his ears – according to the motto “I can’t hear anything”.
Messi’s insult as a t-shirt
After the final whistle, he still had something to say to the opposing coaching team and had wild discussions with head coach Louis van Gaal and his assistant Edgar Davids. Messi’s explanation: “Van Gaal says that the Dutch play great football. But all they did was overplay the midfield with long balls and look for their big players up front.”
Is FIFA investigating any of these incidents? One thing is clear: TYC refused to release the recordings. The official reason: they are no longer available. Many Argentines might have simply boycotted the broadcaster if he had helped ban Messi.
By the way, TYC became famous after the game against the Netherlands. It was an interview with this channel that Messi interrupted to scold Dutch striker Wout Weghorst: “What are you looking at, you idiot?” Mugs and T-shirts are now sold in Argentina with the insult.
