David Goffin beaten in the Caen Open semi-final: “An ideal training tournament before leaving for Australia”

Winner of the 2013 edition, David Goffin was in any case happy to have spent a few days in Calvados, just to get out of the routine of his preparation and to test himself just over two weeks before the start of the 2023 season.

“It’s a great event, with a great atmosphere,” he continued. “It’s an ideal training tournament, in the middle of the preparation, to see where we are, before leaving for Australia in about ten days. I’m happy to have played two games. I I’m working well at the moment, especially physically. It’s going well. There will be more tennis between now and the departure for Australia, but I’m quite satisfied. Against Roberto, it’s always a difficult match, because it “He’s a very tough player to maneuver. He commits very few fouls. It’s often physical fights, with a lot of rallies. He’s hard to beat.”

The final of the Open de Caen will oppose this Wednesday evening, Roberto Bautista Agut to the young Dane Holger Rune (ATP 11), 19 years old.
