The Duranguense teacher Alejandra Torres, has been certified as a National Classifier in Para Table Tennis, after being part of the level 1 seminar that took place in Hermosillo, Sonora.
The State Sports Institute, directed by César Omar Cárdenas Reyes, was kind enough to support Rosa Alejandra Torres Monreal.
This certification endorsed by the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation), in which table tennis athletes with physical disabilities are evaluated to determine according to their functionality, in which class they remain to compete in the tournaments in which they these athletes will participate.
Said seminar was given by the Argentine Cintia Mariño, international certifier who was in charge of giving this important theoretical-practical course, who came from South America to offer this academy, where the first days were the theoretical part, later within the 2022 Paranationals , the practical part was carried out classifying the athletes who participated in the 2022 Paranationals, ending with an exam to pass this course.
There are two types of classifiers, one medical and the other functional, both always have to be present in a classification, “in my case I was certified as a functional classifier, it was a seminar full of a lot of knowledge and not only seeing it from the classifier side, but also from the as a coach since it helps us a lot to see other perspectives”, said Alejandra Torres.
He also said “that the people who pass the certification appear on an official list of the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation), which indicates what type of classifier you are and what continent you belong to, with this certification in my case I will be able to classify at national, but you can also receive invitations at the international level to accompany the international classifiers”, he stressed.
In accordance with the line of supporting and promoting sports activities drawn up by the state governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal, through the IED support is provided for this type of activity, as well as for training coaches and promoters of the sport, to highlight the value of our people and that Durango be held high in sports matters.
