Vasiļjevs wins the Latvian Figure Skating Championship; Stepchenko beats Kuchvalska

In the men’s competition, Latvia’s leading figure skater Deniss Vasiļjevs, after 73.08 points in the short program, scored 167.50 points in the optional program, of which 80.53 points were scored for technical elements and 87.97 points for program components. She has 240.58 points in total.
The second competitor Gleb Smitrov from Ukraine finished with 177.98 points.

At the Latvian Open Championship, Stepchenko scored 119.07 points in the optional program, 67.68 points were scored for technical elements and 51.39 points for program components. In total, she scored 177.71 points, which allowed her to become the winner of the competition.

Belgian athlete Nina Pinzaron, who was third in the short program and second in the optional program, finished second with 169.28 points.

The third place was taken by the Cypriot figure skater Marilena Kitromila, who won the short program, who took the fifth place on Sunday and accumulated a total of 165.81 points.

Kuchvalska, who had placed fifth in the short program on Saturday, scored 94.39 points in the optional program on Sunday to place sixth. In total, she took fifth place with 150.24 points.

Elizabete Jubkāne (112.28 points) and Charlotte Jēkabson (90.34 points) took the 11th and 12th place in the competition of 13 figure skaters, respectively.
For juniors, in the competition of 24 participants, out of seven domestic figure skaters, Nikola Fomchenkova showed the best result.

After the fourth place in the short program, she collected the best total of points in the optional program, and with a total of 156.19 points, she lost only 0.07 points to the second place in the optional program, Estonian Maria Elise Kaljuvere.

The third place with 133.12 points was taken by the representative of Cyprus, Stefania Yakovleva, who, after winning the short program, was only sixth in the long program.

For juniors, Kirill Korkach was second in the competition of seven figure skaters, also in the optional program, losing to Ukrainian Kirilo Marsak with 151.38 points.

Lithuanian Daniels Korabelniks took the third place with 148.37 points.

112 athletes from 14 countries took part in the Latvian Open Figure Skating Championship “Latvia Trophy 2022” held at the “Volvo” Ice Hall.
