A certain excitement reigned, Friday, December 16, on the tatamis of the dojo of Damigny, near Alençon (Orne).

A “beautiful group of friends”

It was provoked by the small dozen blond heads, happy to taste their first hours of Christmas vacation, and in fact slightly undisciplined, but above all engendered by the black belt award ceremony to four hopes du Judo-Club de Damigny.

Envy for some, pride or emotion for others, were shared feelings, which could be read on the faces of each and everyone present during this ceremony.

Thus, as a reward for their efforts and their personal and collective investment, Lucas Nodet, Cyprien Lefevre, Chloe Eudes et Fabian Gleleall aged 16-17 and high school students, were honored by receiving the grail for all judoka: the black belt.

A great satisfaction for Gweltaz Leroyprofessor at the Damignian club since 2019 and for whom this event was also a first for him.

This rewards a great group of friends who started judo together and who managed to climb the ladder to the precious black belt.

Conjure technique and rigor

Contrary to certain disciplines where it is the age, the weight or the gain of points which condition the passage from one level to another, judo, a martial sport which puts forward self-control, is based on two conditions to validate a new color: success at a technical test said sayduring which the claimant expresses himself on a codified exercise, and earning points during fights or Shiai in competitions.

For novices, be careful not to confuse with the randori which is a no-stakes practice fight. Two tests that the four recipients successfully passed.

They had the congratulations of the jury on the technical part and they were able to score the necessary points during the competitions in which they participated, and this in a very beautiful way. Ranking on regional or national circuits against large structures is not insignificant. It shows real skills.

The collective first

If judo, the way of flexibility, is above all an individual activity, it nevertheless calls upon collective values.

“This black belt is also the result of the state of mind they have shown but also of that which has been created around them. They were never alone, they helped each other, never let go even in the most delicate moments. In addition, you should know that three other of their comrades are also in the process of being obtained. It really is teamwork,” insists the Ornais coach.

But also individual which shows the strength of character of each one. “I would like to congratulate them because it requires a lot of work, daily investment. An investment that is consistent with training, internships, competitions. All in addition to their studies. »

Even more, it also represents a good passport for life.

It is an experience that will follow them and will serve them, I hope, in life. It’s a nice piece of luggage for them and for their everyday life.
