Hello Japan Forward readers.
Only a few more to leave this year. Winter is in full swing in Japan, and news of snow has arrived from all over the country. The zelkova trees on the campus of Tokai University, where I work, have lost all their leaves, and the blue sky can be seen clearly through the branches.
By the way, this month, the international tournament held in Tokyo on December 3rd and 4thgrand slam tokyoI would like to report on.
I was involved in this competition in two positions. One is as the deputy chairman of the National Team Strengthening Committee, and the other is involved in tournament management.Branding Strategy Promotion Special CommitteeAs Chairman (Chief Strategy Officer).
As Vice Chairman of the Strengthening Committee, I participated in the World Championships next year and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In Japan, Tokyo Olympic gold medalists Naohisa Takafuji, Hifumi Abe, and Shohei Ono were absent, while Uta Abe won the World Championships in October and this year’s World Championships. He showed us a wonderful game, such as being unofficially selected for the national team.
With the results of this tournament, it can be said that the competition for the representative of the Paris Olympics has been narrowed down to a certain number. This is because under the current national team selection system, it is realistically difficult for a player to join the national team if they do not produce results during this period, one and a half years before the Olympics.
From now on, as vice-chairman, I will need to support Jun Konno, chairman of the strengthening committee, Keiji Suzuki, the men’s coach, and Katsuyuki Masuchi, the women’s coach. It was a tournament that made me feel that
To let you know more about the appeal of judo
As Chief Strategy Officer, I was involved from the preparation stage of the tournament. I had not been involved in the organization of the tournament before, so there was a lot I didn’t know, but everything I saw and heard was new, and it was a learning experience.
The concept of the tournament was “Take a step forward. The next Judo of Japan.”
In particular, the enhancement of the service at the venue was very well received. Collaboration with a popular judo anime, autograph sessions for athletes, children’s kata presentations at the venue after the preliminary rounds, and booths set up with the cooperation of companies and organizations. Thankfully, the box seats with souvenirs sold out quickly, and all seats on the second day of the tournament were sold out, making the two days filled with excitement.
I think I was able to propose a new way of watching judo this time. I want to make use of this experience to manage tournaments that make athletes happy and want to fight at that venue, and to help fans who pay money to come to the venues to feel better through judo. I would like to create a tournament that will be shaken and uplifting.
Well, this is my last post for this year. Thank you all for 2022 years. In 2023, I will continue to deliver information about my daily challenges and judo to readers around the world. Thank you for your continued support in the coming year.
