In the shadow of his father David, Romeo Beckham had found a job with Inter Miami’s reserve team. It belongs to the superstar. In order to keep fit during the winter break, Romeo trained at FC Brentford – and aroused interest there.

Was for a notable change. Striker Romeo Beckham, son of England legend David Beckham (47), is returning to his native London on loan until the end of the season and is moving to the Premier League second team at Brentford FC. The table ninth from the English football upper house made it official.

Accordingly, the 20-year-old Beckham scion should gain playing experience at Brentford B before returning to Inter Miami in the summer. Romeo Beckham has been training with the team at Brentford for a while, originally only wanting to keep fit with the north London club during the US League break.

For the Florida club Inter Miami, which was founded in 2018 and has been a co-founder since father David, Romeo made 26 appearances in the youth team. “An exciting start to the year. Now the hard work and fun begins. Proud of you mate,” David Beckham wrote in an Instagram Story, where he is pictured standing with his son outside the Brentford clubhouse. Romeo is also looking forward to the task in England, saying on his arrival in London: “I’m very proud and very happy to be here.”

Brentford’s B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “We have been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us. He just wanted to bridge the winter break in the MLS and keep fit. But he put himself in incredibly well, he really settled into the culture and the group that he’s become a big part of. I love his set pieces and the way he behaves on and off the pitch. His game is very technical and he’s someone who can move and cross the ball quickly. He’s also really good at finishing and he has the ability to play in multiple positions for us, which is also gratifying.”

Beckham’s change of scenery when he moved to the United States

Meanwhile, Romeo’s brother Brooklyn, 23, gave up playing altogether after being sacked by Arsenal at the age of 16. He said in an interview with Variety that he wanted to face the consequences after realizing it would be “difficult” to live up to his father. David, who played 115 times for England, was “not sad” as he said after seeing budding chef Brooklyn quit because he wanted his son “to be happy”.

After six Premier League titles with Manchester United, the Champions League title in 1999 and a Spanish championship with Real Madrid in 2007, the famous father David felt like a change of scenery.

After winning the title with Real, David Beckham moved to the US club Los Angeles Galaxy. The former midfield star ended his impressive career in the French capital in 2013 at the age of 38 via several loan deals to AC Milan and Paris St. Germain.

In 2018, Beckham then announced that he was planning to form an MLS club with Inter Miami as part of an investor group. This then started for the first time in 2020 in the US league.
