Union Saint-Gilloise disgusts an Anderlecht reduced to 10 and pockets a 6th consecutive derby

Union Saint-Gilloise has come a long way. At the end of a funny derby, the Saint-Gillois won against Anderlecht to sign a 6th consecutive success against the big brother of Brussels (1-3).

Funny derby because from the 5th minute, the referee Bram Van Driessche has become, despite himself, the main actor of the match. His decision to exclude Moussa N’Diaye, author of a fault a priori without too many stories, reduced Anderlecht to ten after 10 minutes and above all gave this meeting the appearance of a boxing ring. A ring, where the slightest decision is contested. Where the slightest fault provokes its share of tensions and controversies. Where the cards are raining down (6 yellows in 45 minutes!) and where Anderlecht, reduced to ten, is forced to back down. But for once, the mind is there, the Riemer label noticeable and the Mauves are fighting like starvation on each balloon.

The sequel even looks like a fairy tale for Sporting who take the lead, largely against the run of play, thanks to a superb combination between Francis Have fun et Fabio Silva.

Dominating but imprecise, the Union is therefore obliged to run after the score. Funny scenario in a meeting that the Saint-Gillois nevertheless largely dominate.

But dominating is not everything in football, you have to score. The Unionists know this and they don’t panic. And very slowly, the efforts made begin to be felt in the Anderlecht guibolles. The lock gives way. Worse, it explodes. After chasing the ball for 80 minutes, the Mauves concede three goals in 10 minutes, works by Puertas, Lynen and Adingra.

The mass is said, Anderlecht is KO Beaten after a frustrating meeting during which the Mauves will have had the merit of believing in it until the end. In the end, there will have been 10 minutes too many. Those where the Union moved up a gear to pocket, deservedly, a 6th consecutive victory against the best enemy of Brussels.
